Contact Your Local Newspaper Editor

category Outreach

You can make a difference in Clark County by writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper.

Newspaper reader surveys have shown that the letters to the editor page is one of the most closely read parts of the newspaper.

Tips for writing a letter to the editor*:
• State the point of your letter clearly and at the beginning
• Make your letter timely
• Rely on facts rather than rhetoric
• Keep your letter brief and typed if possible
• Include your name, signature, address and phone number
• Find others to write letters about the same issue (If your letter doesn't get published, perhaps someone else's on the same topic will)
• Monitor the paper for your letter. If your letter has not appeared within a week or two, follow up with a call to the newspaper’s editorial department

If you send a letter to the editor about a political issue, please email us a copy. We love to hear what Clark County Democrats have to say to their local papers.
