Thanks for your vote

Thank you for voting in the primary.

The Democratic slate is set for the general election and we're on a roll. Pick up the phone and call to volunteer. (360) 254-9116. Get the word out to your neighbors. Local politics is important and there is a lot we can win -- and a lot we can lose.

All the local Democratic candidates can use help getting their messages out to the public. Play a part yourself in getting good Democrats into office. What you do locally today will benefit our entire state.

Primary votes determined many of the judicial contests -- and showed a decisive victory for the people of Washington state, and yet another defeat for corporate-backed candidates trying to buy their way onto the bench. The state and local Democratic parties paid a big part in getting out the vote in the primary. Accolades to our coordinated campaign: "Job well done!"

Despite attempts by the building industry and others to handpick the state Supreme Court, justice prevailed. Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerry Alexander and Supreme Court Justice Tom Chambers were re-elected, as were Court of Appeals Judge Mary Kay Becker, Judge Christine Quinn-Brintnall and Judge Joel Penoyar. We still have an impartial judiciary in Washington state.

The fight is not over for Supreme Court Justice Susan Owens who will face Stephen Johnson in the November election. The same special interests that dumped millions of dollars into this election will be coming after Justice Owens, and we need to make sure her independent, experienced voice stays on our Supreme Court.

We have initiatives coming up on the November ballot and I-933 would be a catastrophe for our local governments. Support our Democratic candidates in the general election and encourage others to vote as well. We can beat back these well-funded out-of-state initiatives and court races to keep Washington blue.
